WICKED TINKERS * Cockswain * Max Fite * Flagstaff Celtic Kickoff Party at Flagstaff’s Green Room

WICKED TINKERS are a Celtic Tribal Sound Explosion!

Prepare yourself for a wild ride with WICKED TINKERS! Pioneers of the growing Tribal Celtic movement, the Tinkers have been playing haunting, heart-pounding bagpipes and irresistible, tribal drums as a professional touring band since 1995. With the addition, several years back, of the mesmerizing drone of the Australian didgeridoo and Bronze Age Irish horn, the magic was complete. Sit back and be transported to an earlier time in Scotland and Ireland, when battle cries filled the air and strange, unheard-of creatures roamed the night. Or better yet, get on your feet and let your body move to ancient rhythms and forgotten sounds.

Cockswain cox·swain [kok-suhn, -sweyn] noun
1. the steersman of a racing shell.
2. a person who is in charge of a ship’s boat and its crew, under an officer, and who steers it.
3. a scruffy Celtic rock band from Phoenix, AZ

Formed in 2011 Cockswain made their St. Patrick’s Day debut in 2012 and have been working on developing their own style that can only be described as high energy celtic rock with gypsy rhythms and punk rock attitude. The word “Cockswain” means “one who steers the ship”, but to the band, lead singer Neil Ward put it like this: “It is more about being in charge of ones own destiny. Rebels. Stay true to themselves. Probably the most punk rock name ever really.”

Cockswain is known in the Phoenix, Arizona Irish pub scene performing 3-hour sets on a regular basis at places like Tim Finnegan’s Irish Pub and Fibber Magees Irish Restaurant & Pub. Recently the band has expanded to play in Flagstaff, Arizona and Tucson, Arizona. In November 2016, Cockswain made their festival debut playing three 1-hour sets at the Tucson Celtic Festival.

Originally from the Phoenix punk rock music scene, Arizona native Neil Ward formed Cockswain to combine his love for punk rock and traditional Irish music. Joining him is bassist Clint Davis, Amanda Lubking on fiddle, Wake Lubking on banjo, Jack Hoole on drums, and Evan Fourness on lead guitar.

Many influences can be heard in Cockswain’s high energy hard driving music including The Pogues, The Clash, The Who, Gogol Bordello, The Dubliners to name just a few. Their debut album titled “Seamus” was released in April 2015. Produced and recorded by Mike Bolenbach at his Full Well Recording Studio, the album is packed with original songs about booze, lost loves, ghosts, and devils, Seamus was described by the Phoenix New Times as music “With a punk delivery, an Irish heart, and a modern vision to make this kind of music contemporary, Cockswain truly succeeds at what it does, and it sounds great.” Cockswain’s second full length album is scheduled for release in Spring 2017.

Through the power of music, ‘Max Fite‘ strives to enrich their songs with life’s passion. SHAKE IT ON DOWN brings tones of rock ’n’ roll, blues and folk together, forming a striking and visual experience. Acting as a road map to life’s struggles and successes, the album showcases the art that comes out of triumph and loss.
Since coming together in 2015, the band has worked with producer Jaron Luksa in Los Angeles, California, to create this vibrant record. Placing the greatest importance on collaboration and never failing to attend to even the smallest of details, these songs have pushed the band’s music to a unique and soulful level, playing a key role in the success of the album.
?Recently Max Fite has been busy touring and honing their live act. Over the past year, the band has played over fifty shows in venues up and down the west coast, south west, Colorado, Las Vegas and Texas, including three showcases at SXSW in 2018. They have also shared the stage with many big hitters proving they can rock and entertain big crowds with their songs and high energy performances. Opening for seasoned Seattle group The Walking Papers, The Guessing Game, Palooka, Jesse Malin, along with two shows of the L.A.M.F. tribute tour featuring Mike Ness (Social Distortion), Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols), Walter Lure (Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers) and Clem Burke (Blondie), Puddle Of Mudd and Candlebox.
